Using , you configure the purposes applied to the cookies and SDKs found on your Tracking technologies screen.
Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
Performance Cookies. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

You can edit purpose details and manage organizational access.

On the menu, select . The Purposes screen appears.

Select the the purpose you want to edit. The Details pane appears.

Click the Edit button. All editable fields display.

Update the fields, as needed. For more information, see Edit Purpose Screen Reference.

Click the Save button.
Important
Edits to purposes are language-specific and do not automatically transfer from one language to another. If updates are required in more than one language, select the applicable language from the Language field when making edits.

Caution
Out-of-the-box cookie purposes cannot be deleted. If an out-of-the-box purpose should not be available in your preference center, remove the domain's cookies from that purpose. The purpose will no longer be available in the preference center once your scripts are republished and added to your website.

Select the row for the purpose you want to delete.

To view activity history for a purpose
Note
Activity history is retained only for the current calendar year.

On the menu, select . The Categories screen appears.

Click on the name of a purpose . The View purpose pane appears.

Click the Context Menu icon. The menu appears.

Select View Activity. The Activity Log pane appears.

View the audit log for the purpose, or select another purpose to view its activity history.
Tip
You can switch back to the View purpose display by selecting from the menu.
Troubleshooting: Missing Purposes
Purposes may appear missing if, at the time you last published your banner script, there were no technologies assigned to each of the categories on the domain for which you published the script. In other words, in order for categories to appear in your preference center, you need to ensure that at least one tracking technology is assigned to each of your categories for the domain for which you are publishing your script.

On the menu, select . The Tracking technologies screen appears.

Use the filters to filter the list by the domain you want to publish.

Verify that at least one tracking technology is categorized in each purpose for that domain.
Once you have ensured that at least one cookie has been assigned to each of your categories at the applicable domain level, perform the following:

On the menu, select . The Websites screen appears.

Click the name of the domain you want to publish. The Website Details screen appears.

Click the Recategorization button.
